    Excellent representation of Diving in Oman. I have lived and work in Oman for the last 9 years and dive weekly it is absolutely beautiful every dive. Turtles on most dives, huge eels on every dive and as you said the wheel house on the Al Munisier is seriously full of fish. I do however use only a 3 mill shorty all year round apart from anything else during the summer putting anything more on and you will boil in your bag.

I have had no issues with it and can see everything I point it at even in murky crappy visibility l. Happy with my purchase.

    Now while floating on my back, how do I hold not completely empty my lungs & still be able to do normal in & out breathing?

    • @WetSouls
      @WetSouls 5 місяців тому

      Floating on your back without completely emptying your lungs and maintaining normal breathing involves a balance of buoyancy and relaxation. Here's how you can achieve this: Get Comfortable in the Water: Start in shallow water where you can easily stand. This will help you feel secure as you practice. Practice Breathing: Before floating, practice taking deep breaths in and out. Get a feel for filling your lungs with air and then releasing some of the air, but not all of it. Your lungs act like natural flotation devices, so keeping them partially filled with air will help you float. Enter a Back Float: Gently lean back into the water, spread your arms and legs slightly apart to stabilize yourself, and let your head tilt back so your ears are in the water. This position helps distribute your weight evenly and increase your buoyancy. Find Your Balance: Adjust your body position until you find a state of equilibrium. You might need to arch your back slightly or adjust your head position to keep your nose and mouth above water comfortably. Breath Control: Focus on maintaining a relaxed, steady breathing pattern. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, or in whatever way feels most comfortable and keeps water out. The key is not to hold your breath but to keep a constant, gentle flow of air in and out. This means inhaling softly and then exhaling without fully emptying your lungs. Relax: The more relaxed you are, the easier it will be to float. Tension in your body can make you sink, so try to relax your muscles as much as possible. Trust the water to support you. Adjust as Needed: If you find yourself starting to sink, gently adjust your body position or take a slightly deeper breath to increase your buoyancy. The goal is to maintain a level of air in your lungs that keeps you afloat without needing to take deep breaths constantly. Practice Regularly: Like any skill, practice makes perfect. Spend time floating in a safe, controlled environment to become comfortable with the sensation and to improve your technique. Remember, everyone's body is different, and factors like body composition and lung capacity can affect how easily you float. With practice, you'll learn how much air you need to keep in your lungs to float comfortably while breathing normally. If you're new to swimming or not confident in your abilities, consider practicing with a certified swim instructor who can provide personalized guidance and ensure your safety.

    • @WetSouls
      @WetSouls 5 місяців тому

      Especially at the beginning, key is controlled breathing. If You breathe out all your air at once, like in normal breathing, you will sink. I reccomend to hold a little in your lungs to balance yourself.

    Cant one just wear normal clothes under the drysuit?

    • @WetSouls
      @WetSouls 7 місяців тому

      Wearing normal clothes under a drysuit is generally not recommended for most water activities, especially in colder environments. Drysuits are designed to keep you dry and, depending on the suit, provide thermal protection. However, they don't typically offer much in the way of insulation. Here's why specialized undergarments are usually a better choice: Moisture Wicking: Specialized drysuit undergarments are designed to wick moisture away from your body. Normal clothes, especially cotton, can absorb sweat and make you feel cold and damp. Insulation: Undergarments made for use with drysuits typically provide better insulation. They are designed to trap air close to your body, which warms up and keeps you warm. Comfort and Flexibility: Diving or performing other activities in a drysuit requires flexibility and ease of movement. Undergarments designed for drysuit use are often more flexible and less bulky than normal clothes. Compression Resistance: Undergarments for drysuits are generally more resistant to compression at depth. This means they maintain their insulating properties better than regular clothes might. Quick Drying: Specialized undergarments are usually made from quick-drying materials. If they get wet (e.g., from sweat or a small leak in the drysuit), they will dry out much faster than normal clothes. While it's possible to wear normal clothes under a drysuit, especially for activities in milder conditions or where insulation is not a major concern, it's usually more effective and comfortable to use the appropriate undergarments designed for use with drysuits.

    I have ADHD and chronic anxiety i am.5 lessons in the fear still there. I dont feel any more comfortable in the water

    • @WetSouls
      @WetSouls 8 місяців тому

      It's perfectly normal to feel some fear and discomfort when learning something new, especially when it involves water. It's a different environment, and your body and mind need time to adjust. The fact that you have ADHD and chronic anxiety can make this process feel more challenging, but remember, everyone progresses at their own pace. Here are a few tips that might help you as you continue your lessons: Communicate with Your Instructor: Make sure your instructor knows about your ADHD and anxiety. They can tailor their teaching approach to better suit your needs and help you feel more at ease. Small Steps: Celebrate the small victories. Maybe you're a little more comfortable than the first day, or perhaps you can float a bit better. Acknowledge these as progress. Breathing Techniques: Practice breathing exercises both in and out of the water. Deep, controlled breathing can help manage anxiety and can also be a crucial skill for swimming. Mindfulness and Visualization: Try to practice mindfulness and visualization techniques. Imagine yourself swimming confidently and comfortably. This can help create a positive mental association with water. Regular Breaks: Don't be afraid to take breaks during your lessons if you're feeling overwhelmed. It's important to listen to your body and mind. Consistent Practice: Keep practicing, even if it's just a little bit at a time. The more familiar you become with being in the water, the more comfortable you will feel. Support System: Bring a friend or family member to your lessons if possible. Having someone you trust nearby can be very comforting. Professional Support: Consider speaking with a mental health professional about your anxiety. They can offer strategies to help manage it both in and out of the pool. Remember, it's okay to move at your own pace. There's no rush, and it's important to be patient with yourself as you overcome these hurdles. Keep at it, and with time and practice, you're likely to find your comfort in the water increasing. Stay strong, and don't hesitate to reach out for support when you need it. 💙

    one thing, what is the difference between a snorkel mask and a scuba mask? is it okay if I just got a scuba mask for snorkeling activities?

    • @WetSouls
      @WetSouls 8 місяців тому

      Hello there. Snorkel masks (And Im not talking about those full face masks people snorkel with now) and scuba masks are both designed for underwater activities but have some key differences based on the distinct needs of snorkelling versus scuba diving. Understanding these differences will help clarify whether you can use a scuba mask for snorkeling activities. Design: Snorkel Mask: Typically, snorkel masks cover the nose and eyes and are used in conjunction with a separate snorkel for breathing. They are designed for floating face-down on the surface of the water, allowing the user to breathe through the snorkel while observing the underwater world. Scuba Mask: Scuba masks also cover the nose and eyes, but they are built to withstand higher pressure as divers go deeper underwater. They are used in conjunction with a regulator for breathing from a scuba tank. Scuba masks often have stronger construction and may offer a wider range of features, such as a better seal and stronger materials to withstand the increased pressure at greater depths. Volume: Snorkel Mask: These tend to have a higher volume (more airspace inside the mask), which isn't much of an issue since snorkeling involves staying close to the water's surface. Scuba Mask: These often have lower volume to minimize the amount of air needed from the scuba tank to equalize the pressure inside the mask as the diver descends. Lower volume masks also tend to provide a wider field of vision, which can be beneficial for scuba divers. Usage: Snorkel Mask: Since snorkelers stay at the surface, their masks don't need to accommodate changes in pressure and generally don't provide features for deep water diving. Scuba Mask: These masks are designed to be flexible and functional at varying depths, with features that make them adaptable to changes in pressure. Given these differences, using a scuba mask for snorkeling activities is usually okay. In fact, it might even provide some benefits, such as a potentially better seal, more durable construction, and a wider field of vision. However, they may also be more expensive due to these enhanced features and durability. The key is comfort and fit. No matter the type, the right mask for you is the one that fits your face well, offers a good seal to prevent water from entering, and provides clear vision underwater. Always try on a mask to ensure proper fit and comfort before deciding, regardless of whether it's marketed for snorkelling or scuba diving.
